It's gettin' hot in here. . .
Okay, so everyone told me that the hot dry season was coming. I was told it would be at its peak in October/November. If this is only a "warm-up" for then, I'm in trouble! And accompanying the heat is this fierce wind. Every booger in my nose is as black as the Minnesota dirt! The dust storms are enormous and with them comes cyclones of garbage zipping through town! Hotlanta ain't nothin' compared to what is and what is coming! Send dry ice stat. Just kidding. I'm sure I'll find a way to cope. Hope all you faithful readers are well, and if you haven't checked in for awhile, don't forget to drop me a line to tell me you're okay. I'm homesick :(

Hi there dear Ringo, I'm sorry it's so hot. I bet you'll learn new heat-beating remedies? It's getting cooler here, and school is getting ready to start. I think of you daily, and hope you will continue to be such an amazing ambassador of those in the States who do have lots of compassion to share. Love you.

Hello! I envy you your sunshine! No matter where I've been this summer - nothing but rain and clouds. It is, however, sunny today if a bit chilly in good 'ol Humboldt. It's good to be home. Ok, I have 2 questions for you. 1. Do you know of any good Zambian authors? Preferably contemporary ones. And 2. What is your impression of the effects of colonialism? Not only the vestiges you might see, but also how it might have affected current identity? Or maybe, the way it has been melded into a new identity? Ok, well I studied that stuff - so I have to ask the person who's getting first hand experience! If you get bored - write me a letter - I always enjoy them. And hang in there, lots of people are thinking of you, myself included.

Ringo!! Sorry I've been such a delinquent friend. I do think of you often and miss you dearly. Just catching up on your blog and preparing a package full of poetry books, VHS, and a long letter from yours truly. Anything else you're jonesing for?
