Time...

Hello! The time difference between Zambia and the East Coast is 6 hours (will change to 7 when daylight savings switches), from Central 7 hours, and so on. When you're getting up for work in the morning, I'm just having lunch. When you're having lunch, I'm just getting off work. When you're getting off work, I'm already in bed. What is funny is that the time difference is the same from here to the US as it is in parts of Europe. Maybe because it feels like such a strange and completely different world, sometimes I feel like the time change should be more. My friend Ba Mukesh was asking me last night, "Ringo, what made you decide to leave all those people behind that love you so much?" I said, "I was always far away from someone who loved me even when I was in the US; and I came here to meet new people who I will love and will love me." Then he just said, "But this is REALLY far away from home."
He's right. Now that I have been here for over 5 months, I really feel as if I am worlds away. I find myself forgetting things of MN and ATL. For instance (maybe someone in ATL can help me here), I couldn't remember the name of that really great wings place on Ponce next to Green's liquor and down the street from the Clairmont Lounge. I think that it starts with a D, but I could be wrong. Sad. I guess I just miss you all very much. It will help that Bev is coming to visit this weekend, but I guess this is about the time in my service when the novelty of Africa has worn off, and the missing of home settles in. Sorry to depress. Remember, someone in Zambia loves you!

It is called Dugan's. Don't get sad- I think about you everyday and wonder what you are doing. I also think about how lucky you are that you don't have to listen to the news and our lovely politics... I mean really- how can a runaway bride really be that interesting?

I like to imagine how you can be sitting sooo far away, but we are still connected by the web. Think of the volunteers who were there 10 years ago and only had snail mail! I've missed you since before you moved to GA - and now I get to hear from you about once a week, it is great. You're going to have awesome stories to share when you get back!! Someone in Madison, WI loves you and is thinking about you!

Tis Dugans, lovey. Thank goodness you still have me over on Ponce to remind you =) And Stacey..... Funny how you forgot Dugans, but not Clermont. But then again, who could forget the Clermont? Someone in Atlanta loves you. Very much! Things are much less interesting here now that you're gone....Tell me, what do people think of the Live 8 thing over there? I was in Philadelphia for it and it was cool and all, but I'm not sure how my presence there really makes a difference in Africa. (Will Smith and Natalie Portman claimed that it does.) Anyway....just wondering what the African/Zambian/Peace Corps Volunteer take on it is. Keep fighting the good fight! Love you bunches my friend.
