Tonga Temptress...
Kamwamba!
So, here I am in Kitwe again. I took the long hike from Mwekera to here... via minibus. It has been hot here. I'm settling in to things really well and I LOVE this country. I hope that I have many visitors (you're giving up the opportunity of a lifetime if you don't) that come within the next 2 years. A word about packages... since I will be going to my site placement on April 2nd, try not to send anything too valuable after March 2nd to the Kitwe address. I would probably get it eventually (and will get letters), but it will take a long time. I'll be hooking y'all up with my permanent address as soon as I know it. I had an interview a couple days ago with my APCD (associate peace corps director) about where I'll be going. Everything is still up in the air, but one of the sites is a polygamist compound... I thought that would be a great experience. We'll see! Pictures will be coming soon... I just have to fill up the damn memory card!

What d'ya mean "real" letters? You mean little cards aren't enough? :) I hope you're having a good time, Annie, and we'll see if I can get out there in the next two years. Once I get that teaching job, I'll be raking in the dough, so it will be supereasy to just jet on over (private jet on over, I'm sure). Don't eat anything that's still moving!

It sounds like your having the experience of a life time. It's been great to log onto your website and hear about all your scary and fun experiences. I would like to thank Jenny for making this website. Knowing how long the packages I have already sent are taking now. I will send your b-day package early so you can get it before you go to the southern province. You will probably need those flip flops before you get there too. I look forward to seeing you sometime in October baby. Take care of yourself and no more falling down hills.. Love, Bev

Hey Annie!! I have missed you SO much. I am so sorry that it has taken me so long to get in touch with you. Bev gave me this website and now I will keep in touch with you each week. Can't wait to see you and hear about all your excersions. I have so much to tell you about me and my new single life. I will write you soon and I will love to call you when you get the chance.

Who would think that one day we could get email from the interior of Africa. Loved your letter. I sent a "real letter" this morning (2/24). They said it would take a week. Much love and support to you from me and Short Pants. Should I send a rat trap?

Joyce, the PO lie -- it takes a letter about 3 weeks.

Hey Ringo,
I meant to tell you sooner, but I sent you a package in the middle of January. But I forgot to include a note in it or anything to indicate who it's from. So if you get something from Maine that includes Burt's Bees and other goodies, it's from me. The post office people get a real kick out of sending stuff to Africa, let me tell you. Once I get some money, maybe next year or something, I'd love to come out and visit you. How can we turn down that opportunity! I will send you more presents soon. I miss you!! Don't eat anything Fang wouldn't eat.

We don't know each other, I just stumbled upon your website while searching for Tonga words. I will be traveling with a medical mission team to the area of Zimba, Jembo, Chabbaboma and Choma starting March 5th. We are all from Kansas and represent a Christian medical ministry team. This will be our second short term trip into the country. Enjoy your time in the beautiful country of Zambia and Godspeed!

Well, am I the only one who wasn't familiar with what "polygamy" is? I just looked it up and found out! You're right that will be quite an experience. I can't wait to come and see you! Love and miss you, Bev

Hey girl! I hope you are still enjoying your adventures in Zambia! We all miss you here in Hotlanta! Email me or write me you address and I will certainly keep you posted on what's going on here. I hope you haven't run into any more rats!!! Yuck! Miss ya so much and can't wait to see you and talk to you about all you are experiencing.

Hope you get to a boma soon to post your next journal entry. We're on pins and needles. That was nice of Brian to wish you well and I'm glad to know that we have medical teams in your area. I sent anothe letter today. Three weeks, Mary? Wow! Zambia needs a better zip system. When's your birthday? Have a happy one if I missed it!

Hey there crazy woman. Okay, so I'm ridiculously bad at correspondence. Can ya find it in your heart to forgive me? Laurel and I will send you a letter soon(ish). In the meantime, i'll keep up with you via this website, which is great (Thanks Jenny for helping us stay connected with Ringo). Dont' do anything I wouldn't do, which is nothing, so have a fucking ball! Love, Carey (fellow AMATA alum)

Hey girl! I'm sitting here with Porsha, Ms. Ingram and Eugene and we are missing the hell out of you. We have been sitting here laughing about things and your name came up. I can't wait for you to come home and tell me all the things you've experienced! I am so sorry that I haven't kept in constant contact over the last months. I will promise to try better!
